So this was the last part of my lone journey. From college street take a tram to Dharmotala, by this your whole trip will get a sweet ending. We also have an article on the best places to have snacks in Kolkata you can check it here. But if you guys have more time then you can come to college street from there and just roam around and probably have some snacks. So this putul bari was my last stop for the day. But if you get lucky then you can sneak in just to get a couple of snaps just like I did. Though one thing to be noted if you are seeking for the venture and want to get inside the house and “fight the ghost “ that is not allowed. There are many stories rumoured about it you can google it to know more about this place. This place is also rumoured as one of the haunted places in Kolkata. This a very old house back in the 20th centuries used as a storage house as it is very close to the river but now it is empty and also marked as one of the dangerous houses by Kolkata corporation. I will add some pictures for you.įrom there within walking distance is Ahiritola Putul Bari. The whole area is filled with the scent of wet soil.

From the Sovabazar ferry ghat, it is about 10 minutes of walk towards Kumartuli.Īt the time when I visited all the idols were getting made and watching the artists work on them is a beautiful sight. The ticket was only 7 rupees to reach from Baghbazar to Sovabazar ghat. And for reaching Kumartuli I had to go to Sovabazar Ghat. Some of the other famous ghats on the ferry route are Ahiritola Ghat, Nimtola Ghat, Sovabazar Ghat, Ramkrishnapur Ghat etcetera. You can also enjoy the sweet breeze of Hoogly River and travelling by ferry on its own is a different sort of experience. The ferry service is one of the fastest way of transport avoiding the traffic of the roads. The ferry I boarded was going from Armenian Ghat to Howrah Ghat.
